Not only did she undress,
but she yanked something as well.
In front of my camera she
was a faceless and nameless,
but actually she expressed
her femininity.
I photographed her as if
I looked myself in the mirror.
Tamaki Obuchi
I live in Kokura, Kitakyushu City, the south side of Japan, Kyushu
island. I studied history of art and Japanese painting in Tokyo National
University of Fine Arts and Music. When I was very young my father, an
amateur photographer, taught me how to take photograph. I was interested
in it , and bought a cheap half frame camera by myself. However, I became
enthusiasm about painting after entered a junior high. While I was is the
university I joined a photo club, but I was a very lazy member. I had a
chance to see Imogen Cunningham's work in 1991. Her photographs impressed
me so deeply. Her works opened my eyes. They showed me that photograph
is a fine art. So I began to take photograph again. These four years I
have been taking photograph of flowers mostly, and sometimes female nude.
I always hope to express my femininity image as a woman in the photograph.
